Dr. Berhane is a consultant endoscopic surgeon and an assistant professor of surgery with more than 15 years of experience. In addition, he is an experienced healthcare leader, healthcare quality expert, and surgical services and system advisor at a national level. During his stay at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, he has served in different leadership positions such as Vice Provost/President of Medical Services, Inpatient Services Director, Endoscopy Unit Lead, Vice Department Head, and Clinical Coordinator. He established several services and was one of the college's founding founders. The lone kidney transplant center in the country was established while he served as vice provost for medical services. Dr. Berhane is also a researcher who published 20+ articles in different local and international journals such as Lancet and BMC. He has been participating in different local and international professional associations. He was also a founder member and has held the offices of president and vice president of the Ethiopian Gastroenterology Association. Dr. Berhane continuously updates himself in different areas such as gastroenterology and hepatology, healthcare quality, and leadership. He, therefore, member FISQua and is currently enrolled at Harvard Medical School's surgical leadership program
