Dr. Alaaeldin Awad Mohamed is a distinguished Sudanese laparoscopic, HPB (Hepatopancreatobiliary), and Organ Transplantation Surgeon renowned for his expertise and groundbreaking achievements in the field. Graduating with an MBBS from the University of Khartoum in May 2002, he continued to excel, earning an MD in General Surgery from the Sudanese Medical Specialization Board in December 2007, and later, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in November 2008. Dr. Alaaeldin further honed his skills through a rigorous four-year fellowship in Hepatobiliary & Organ Transplantation Surgery at Shiraz University of Medical Science in Iran, completing the Middle East Society of Organ Transplantation program in September 2016. His dedication and proficiency were recognized with awards from the European Board in Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery (EUMS HPB) in September 2018 and the European Board of Organ Transplantation (EUMS Transplantation) in October 2018. Dr. Alaaeldin played a pivotal role in establishing the first specialized HPB surgery unit at IbnSina Specialized Hospital in Sudan, where he and his team have performed over 400 HPB surgeries, including the historic first LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplantation) surgery in Sudan in July 2022. Additionally, he successfully conducted a liver conjoint twin separation surgery in the same year. With his exceptional experience and skill in laparoscopic general and hepatobiliary surgery, Dr. Alaaeldin continues to push the boundaries of surgical innovation and patient care.
